During his time as Executive Director of the Heart of Birmingham Teaching PCT, he gained in-depth knowledge of the local health economy and the challenges facing primary care. Today, as Managing Director of Practice Partners, he leads the development of effective business models that enable Super Partnerships to thrive and achieve their aspirations.

Leighton brings invaluable experience to the Practice Partners team. As Group Managing Director of Prime plc, his sound commercial insight and commitment to partnership working with GPs and PCTs, helped create a facilities portfolio worth £250m in just 12 years. Leighton’s remit within Practice Partners spans advising on business strategy and decision making, merger negotiations with potential Super Partnership members, the realisation of joint venture opportunities, and all property matters

Helen Parker

Helen has held senior clinical and management roles in NHS primary care and the private healthcare sector. Prior to joining Practice Partners, she was Co-Director of the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham. Helen’s wealth of experience in primary healthcare and community services, along with her understanding of both the theory and practice of building high performance, enable her to provide Super Partnerships with excellent organisational and service development support.

Stephanie Cartwright
Associate Director, Practice Partners ››

Stephanie has 18 years experience of working in primary care, holding senior management roles within the NHS and private sector. Prior to joining Practice Partners, she was Associate Director for Strategy and Innovation for NHS Dudley, where she focussed on strategic planning and organisational development, working in partnership with GPs to develop their commissioning and provider roles. Stephanie uses her in-depth understanding of general practice and her expertise in creating efficient and high performing organisations, to provide intensive support to Super Partnerships.

Richard Williams
Director Practice Partners & Group Director Prime plc ››

Qualified in law in 1989, Richard has worked closely with GPs and PCTs for over 12 years to develop the sound legal and commercial frameworks essential to support joint venture partnerships and mutually beneficial enterprise. He led Prime’s winning bids for LIFT contracts in Birmingham and Solihull and North Staffordshire. As the leader of our in-house legal team, Richard’s expertise gives Practice Partners a real commercial advantage.

A founder member of the Prime plc Group, Richard’s track record of starting and developing robust businesses is illustrated by Prime’s remarkable growth from a single business to a group of over 10 successful companies inside 12 years. As well as his responsibilities as Group Chief Executive, Richard retains an active role in primary and social care developments and contributes valuable know-how on funding new projects.
